Couldn't wait to see this movie as the trailers and reviews were great.And I wasn't disappointed! The characters were well developed, the actors and their work superb, and the storyline kept you glued to the screen from start to finish. I'm not a gambler, (but I do love the odd trip or two to Vegas), but I can recommend this movie to anyone: whether you understand the gist of what 'counting cards' or not this movie is a must-see!

Definately worth a gamble

The casino bosses don't like it when they get turned over, even when it is perfectly legal. When a gamble turns into a given and the odds are with the player due to the players genius its time to get heavy. This fact based story is all action all interest and superbly played out by all involved. Definately a winner winner chicken dinner film, a recommended watch.

Not bad but read the book

Not a bad movie but a disappointment after the book. I don't believe movie adaptations of books should be true to every word but do believe they should be true to the spirit of the book. This movie failed to do this.

The book, whilst not a literary masterpiece, is well written in a journalistic sort of way. It is a real story of real people and thus is more complex, the issues are not clear cut and it raises some deep questions.

The movie, which is only 'inspired' by true events changes the story line massively. I suspect this was to create a stronger more linear story line but in doing so has made the story shallower and cheaper. It includes events that did not and could not happen (according to the book).

Maybe if you have not read the book you can enjoy the movie more. It is beautifully shot, great lighting and the characters are all very likeable and attractive - but I'm afraid it didn't do it for me.
